Hello and welcome to All the Best Things! What is this blog about? Why was it created and what will you find here? A bit of background –
This little girl is the reason for this blog. Several years ago, when our daughter Tori was about 4, she discovered unboxing videos on YouTube. Like many kids, she was absolutely fascinated as she watched mysterious hands unwrap Kinder eggs and other goodies. Soon she began recreating these scenes with her own treats, narrating just as she had heard in the videos. Over the last few years, her interest in unboxing remained, although it evolved as she grew. She moved on first to DC Toys, DCTC Toy Channel, and The Engineering Family, then to channels geared for a bit older kids, such as Plush Time Wins, JacyandKacy, and Taylor & Vanessa. Instead of simply pretending that she was being filmed, she soon asked if I would really film her, which I did. Then she moved from small goodies to bigger ones – one video led us outside as she gave a tour of her playset in our backyard.
(Note: this is not our backyard!)
Then one day shortly after Tori turned 7 and she was demonstrating one of her new birthday toys, I said, “We should set up our own blog and YouTube channel!” Of course, she thought that was a splendid idea and was ready to start filming immediately! We decided that not only would our blog include Tori and her favorite toys, but everyone in the family.
So who will be posting? You’ll see posts from me …
… maybe from dad (although probably not very often) 
…of course from Tori
…and “from” Trixie!
But what will we post about? Well, lots of things! I’ll be discussing my favorite things, such as food, wine, music, clothes, and beauty products. Tori will of course mostly post about toys, but as she’s getting older, she’s more and more interested in clothes, shoes, and makeup (no, I don’t let her wear makeup at age 7, but she does get to play with it!) We’ll be giving Trixie new toys and treats, and judging her reactions. Layne lives for dirt bikes, so anything he posts will probably be about that. However, he thinks all the females in the house are pretty crazy, so who knows how much he’ll participate! We’ll have videos from time to time, too, and will link to our YouTube channel.
We love to travel when we can, with Monterey, California being one of our favorite places. We’ll be reviewing places to go and things to do not only in Monterey, but in other places we happen to visit.
Oh, and we love to eat! We have a tradition of going out to eat every Friday night, and we’ll be talking about our favorite local restaurants!
